Radio host Jack Blood posted some thoughts on the Cobain case on his forum a couple months back. Listen to his show, by the way. It's interesting.
Having dated former HOLE bassist Lisa hole, and living nextdoor to Courtney Love and her first husband "Falling James" (of the band the Leaving Trains) - Gigging with Hole... I can testify that Courney had it in her to pull this off. she is Extremely Intelligent, and just as devious!
I Interviewed "falling James" in 98 and he was living in fear under threats by Courtney (who had beaten him and Kurt! IN FACT I am an eyewitness to the abuse Kurt suffered by Courtney Love. He had deep scars on his back which looked to me like his was Whipped heavily and often. )
I also Interviewed the authors of "who killed Kurt Cobain" (which got me my first FCC complaint - Hmmmm) on that show I cued up and old friend of mine named SEP, who owned hollywoods premier "Rock Shop" SEP was best friends with EL DUCE drummer of the MENTORS. El Duce claims he was offered a substantial amount of cash to KILL KURT COBAIN by Courtney Love. He passed a lie detector test on this, and SEP was a witness.
EL DUCE was then killed by a Train. He was a Profesional drinker and would not have been so careless as his inquest would suggest.
The authors of "Who Killed Kurt Cobain" told me that the man who was flown up to do the Autopsy was Henry Lee. MR Lee was a former Punk Rocker in LA who was intimate friends with.... Courtney Love.
The hangers on and leeches that 'handled' Kurt were DANGEROUS, and helped Courtney to Scare off ALL of Kurt's REAL friends! In a way I saw this coming but like many of Kurt's friends and acquaintances, was helpless to intervene.
Courtney had MANY affairs while married to Kurt (ala Yoko Ono - who in my mind was involved in the assassination of John Lennon - Lennon was also planning to leave Yoko before HIS death!!!! Yoko also was intrumental in keeping Lennon on Heroin for Years, while abusing him both mentally and physically. John had just gotten clean before his death...) Courtney was seen just after Kurt's death having sex with rock star evan dando - she had a teddy bear filled with Kurt's ashes and incorporated it into the sex act....I know, SICK!
The story continues, but in my mind Kurt was Murdered. He LOVED that little girl (Francis Bean), and though he romantized death, he wanted to be in her life! There is NO WAY he killed himself.
We talked about this.
I have only shared all this a few times as there was a lockout and moratorium by those of us close to the situation in Seattle.
I might do friday show on this in the near future, as there is much more to tell.
LOVE & RESPECT,
Jack Blood

Tom Grant has posted an update on his web site addressing the Last Days film, recent comments by Hank Harrison and more.
AUGUST 30th 2005
While being interviewed for her role on Gus van Sant's Last Days (a film inspired by the last days of Kurt Cobain), Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon was interviewed by Uncut magazine regarding the circumstances surrounding Cobain's death.
UNCUT: The film doesn't explain why Kurt killed himself. Can you?
GORDON: I don't even know that he killed himself. There are people close to him who don't think that he did...
UNCUT: Do you believe the theory that Kurt was killed by someone else?
GORDON: I do, yes.
This makes Gordon one of the few, if not the only, musician to have had a friendship with Cobain to declare, on the record, the belief that Cobain was murdered. - (Wikipedia: Kurt Cobain / Uncut Magazine August 2005)

There isn't much happening with the case which is why there haven't been any updates since the end of April. Ms. Love has been in the news a lot, but since her problems are not related to this case they are not covered here. Use the Google News link above instead if you're interested.
Private Investigator Tom Grant put up a page on his website answering what are probably new critics (due to the Love & Death book earlier this year) and laying out once again why he strongly believes Cobain was murdered.
Frances Barrett was interviewed by BBC Radio 2, and a magazine called Guitar Part in January 2004. Transcripts are posted at her site.
Richard Lee is still doing his KCWM show in Seattle.
A new site called deathofanicon.com is under construction.

NME's Uncut Legends #2 Kurt Cobain (Page 144).
"Something else emerged about the suicide note a bit later - more fuel for conspiracies. The last lines - "Please keep going Courtney for Frances for her life which will be so much happier without me. I love you I love you!" - were apparently added to the note some time after the bulk was written. There are those who claim that these lines alter the whole tenor of the note and that they are forged - evidence that Kurt was, in fact, murdered. Check out the web today and there are thousands of pages devoted to this. Once site is even called justiceforkurt.com. The theories mostly revolve around the fact that, once Kurt had shot himself up with three times the fatal dose of heroin, he managed to roll down and rebutton his sleeve, then tidy away his works, and then raise the shotgun and pull the trigger. Impossible, some say. Then there was the muddled matter of how many and whose fingerprints were on the gun. Others suggest that Kurt was about the divorce Courtney and excise her from his will. Courtney had called in a missing persons report about Kurt to the Seattle Police Department, pretending to be Kurt's mother - why, if she had nothing to hide? The Nick Broomfield film Kurt & Courtney later revealed a certain Eldon Hoke who claimed he had been offered $50,000 to kill Kurt, Days after making this claim, he himself was found dead. And so on for 10 long years. Only a week or so before this piece was written, one conspiracy theorist jumped into Courtney's car outside a Los Angeles courtroom and had to be pulled out." Thanks Kristen.

Rumors of a new documentary about the murder theories are circulating, mostly due to references in the new Love & Death book. Wallace and Halperin filmed their interviews with Allen Wrench, Leland Cobain, et al. When talking to Wrench, they asked him how much money he wants to appear in their documentary, to test his opportunism (Page 265).

Ian Halperin contacted us this morning to clear up the allegations made by Seattle Journalist Richard Lee on his April 25th Kurt Cobain Was Murdered cable access show. First, Halperin says they were indeed co-winners of the Rolling Stone journalism award in 1985 for articles that were published in 1984. Their photos appeared in the October 24th 1985 edition of the magazine. Second, Halperin says he contributed to the show "True Hollywood Crimes" on CourtTV for 2 years and appeared on a half dozen shows. He says he has contracts and videos to show for it, so Lee's allegations that he never worked for the channel are false. And lastly, Halperin says he has filmed scenes for the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, "The Aviator" in August & September 2003, and also has a contract (not to mention the eventual theatrical release) to prove that. Halperin feels Lee's claims stem from a personal vendetta and to discredit their new book.

Tom Grant updated his web site with comments about the new book, his involvement in it and the media that accuse them of capitalizing on Cobain's death.
The MTV interview on Thursday was on a publicity sheet given to Grant from Simon & Schuster. A couple of the things on that sheet never materialized, were changed, or, like in MTV's case, they got what they wanted at the April 5th press conference.
In regards to the Allen Wrench story on Monday April 5th (scroll down), this follow-up was posted on his site:
Ian Halperin, co-author of the book: ‘Love and Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain’ (By Max Wallace and Ian Halperin Published by Atria Books/Simon & Schuseter, Inc.) has officially responded to Allen Wrench’s denial of any involvement with the murder of Kurt Cobain.
Ian Halperin, “I have read Allen Wrench’s statements from the www.justiceforkurt.com website. I respect his statements and position on the matter. I also respect any action Allen Wrench may take against me in the future regarding the release of my latest book: Love and Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain.”
Halperin further commented, “I also have extensive video footage of my one-on-one interviews with Mr. Wrench, where I personally challenge and question him, face to face, on his involvement with the Cobain murder. This video footage will be released at a later date.”
Wrench says he is currently interviewing literary agents.
There is a new section on the site menu under Media Coverage entitled "Love & Death". Many of the television and radio interviews captured this week, along with internet links to news sites that covered the publicity tour, have been compiled there for easier reading/browsing.

Ian Halperin talked to Jeff Marek on Mojo Radio AM640 out of Toronto Canada. He points out some of the info in the new book, addresses Love's Daily News statement about them yesterday, says the case will be reopened eventually and takes a few calls. Stream or download the approx. 30 minute interview (joined in progress a few minutes in). (Windows Media / 3mb). Thanks John.

APRIL 7th 2004
"....Meanwhile, [Courtney] Love is lashing out at a book that alleges she may have had a hand in the death of her husband, Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain, in 1994. Max Wallace and Ian Halperin, authors of "Love & Death," have "opportunistically used the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death to promote their ongoing campaign of greed and exploitation of what remains an unbearable tragedy for us all," Love told us in a statement." She said Seattle Police had officially ruled Cobain's death a suicide." -New York Daily News
- 10th Anniversary of Kurt Cobain's Death - Part 4 (Calgary Sun)
"There isn’t a set time of grieving when somebody is lost the way he was." Odd then that Cobain’s grandfather, 80-year-old Leland Cobain, was treating Monday as just another day, claiming he was “over it pretty well, now.” Then again, maybe that’s because Leland doesn’t think Kurt took his own life. “I think he was murdered, yeah,” says the elder Cobain during an interview with the Sun. Leland’s charges are also contained in a new book titled Love & Death, which was published — ghoulishly, some might say — on this 10th anniversary, and which alleges the frontman for Nirvana was murdered. While authors Ian Halperin and Canadian Max Wallace don’t come out and explicitly level the charge, it’s obvious the answer they have for their previous book, Who Killed Kurt Cobain?, is his widow Courtney Love. Leland isn’t so committal. “I have no idea who done it, but I think the cops in Seattle really goofed up,” he says."
- New Book Claims Kurt’s Death A Murder (XFM, UK)
A new book about the death of Kurt Cobain is causing a stir Stateside. The book insists that there was not conclusive evidence to call his death a suicide, saying, in fact, the evidence points to murder. The concept may seem farfetched, but the book raises some interesting questions.
The Howard Stern show took this week off for their spring vacation and are running best-of clips. The interview apparently scheduled for today has been pushed back. Maybe next week (if they're still on the air). 6 years ago, Max Wallace was a guest on the Stern show to talk about Who Killed Kurt Cobain?, the first book he and Ian Halperin wrote about this case. Go back in time and listen to that interview in the Radio Media Coverage section of this site.
APRIL 6th 2004
Max Wallace, Ian Halperin and Tom Grant were interviewed by Hannah Storm on the CBS Early Show at 8:35am. The authors say they're not accusing Courtney Love and are requesting that she authorize the release of the Cobain medical examiner report. "We're not accusing her of anything. We just want her to come forward and vindicate herself, but still if she is vindicated it does not mean that Kurt Cobain wasn't murdered. Then she should get on the trail and help find the killers", said Ian Halperin. Stream or download (5mb) the entire 7 minute interview. (96k Windows Media)

Allen Wrench is interviewed in the new Wallace and Halperin book. New Book Reveals Evidence that Rock Icon was Murdered (Atria Press Release)
Relying on a leaked autopsy report and Seattle Police Department records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, they reveal that the official suicide scenario was scientifically impossible. The records show that Cobain had ingested a triple lethal dose of heroin, before his life was ended with a shotgun bullet, suggesting a murder staged to look like a suicide.
In the book, Kurt's grandfather Leland Cobain goes public for the first time, charging that his grandson was murdered. He joins a chorus of others close to Kurt and Courtney who now dispute the official verdict.
