Back in Beverly Hills, Grant finally meets with Michael "Cali" DeWitt. He tells Grant that he checked the greenhouse on Sunday but never looked after that. "It's just a dirty gross little room" he says. The greenhouse is actually a rather large, and clean room that measures 19' x 23'.
A bit of the room can been seen in the photographs of Kurt's body lying in the greenhouse, the stool, and others that were published. It's obviously not "a dirty gross little room".
Why did DeWitt lie about the greenhouse?
To quote Frances Barnett on Michael "Cali" DeWitt: "Cali needs to be hounded and highlighted so that everyone knows he is the major suspect along with Courtney. When you take into consideration that it was Dewitt in Rome, Dewitt acting suspiciously during April 1994 and since, along with the total media refusal to report correctly on Dewitt, then it is totally obvious that Dewitt is the suspect."
In the May 11th issue of the Seattle Times, Dylan Carlson told a reporter that he didn't know the greenhouse was there!
His exact quote: "For all the times I'd been there, I didn't even realize there was a room above it associated with the house".
This totally contradicts the conversation Dylan had with Grant in the car the day Kurt was found.
Why did Carlson change his story?
Weeks later, Grant says Courtney told him that she gave Michael DeWitt $30,000 to go to a rehab somewhere back east, and that she was angry because he took his girlfriend with him. Grant wonders if this was actually an excuse for a payoff.
