Suicide or Murder?
National Enquirer
March 3rd 1998
Kurt Cobain battled depression and confessed to a $500-a-day heroin habit. But fans were still
shocked when the 27-year-old lead singer of the grunge group Nirvana blew his brains out with
a shotgun.
But was his April 8th 1994, death a suicide? Was it murder?
To this day, rumors persist that Cobain's widow Courtney Love was somehow involved with his
death. Even Love's father is convinced Cobain did not willingly pull the trigger.
Hank Harrison told a magazine that his daughter "profited from Cobain's death in a
considerable way. I know for a fact that (Kurt) was trying to divorce her and she didn't want the
divorce, so she had him killed... Thereis no doubt in my mind that Kurt Cobain was murdered"
Tom Grant, a private detective in Lost Angeles adds: "Kurt was leaving Courtney. There was a
divorce in the works. With millions of dollars at stake, those are powerful motives. I believe
somebody held the shotgun in his mouth, put his finger on the trigger and pulled it"
According to Grant, someone used Cobain's credit cards after his death. He also says Cobain
bought a shotgun because he feared for his own life and that after his body was found, there
were no discernible fingerprints on the gun.
Love's spokesperson Pat Kingsley called Grant;s claims ridiculous. "Courtney had nothing to
do with Kurt's death. It was a suicide."
