Kurt Cobain: Has it been a murder?
It's been four years since the tragic death of Kurt Cobain. Recently, the documentary has been released in USA in which shocking thesis was made, that
Cobain was murdered on commission of his own wife!
His star rose up at the end of 1991. That's when he sang "Smells Like Teen
Spirit" - the track that became an anthem of grunge music.
Kurt Cobain died quickly and unexpectedly. On the morning of April 8, 1994 he took his life away with a gunshot. Up to this day the legendary vocalist of Nirvana is being mourned by thousands of fans that cannot forgive him suicidal death. After tragic accident he became their real idol.
Recently, the tragic death of Cobain, on the attic of his house in Seattle, became the reason of many presumptions in US. Is it possible that Kurt was murdered by contract killer, sent on by his own wife? English director Nick Broomfield inclines towards this thesis in the documentary "Kurt
& Courtney". He constructs his accusation on the base of circumstantial evidences and misunderstandings from which - in his opinion - irrefutably results that the wife of famous artist was involved in murder.
Courtney herself drew dislike and suspicions upon her. With the aid of hired attorneys she made the film show impossible at the last moment on one of the festivals. She didn't manage to stop its entire projection. The film is being shown now in many cinemas in the entire area of US.
This are five the most important arguments that supports
Broomfield's thesis:
- Courtney had a sufficient reason to want his husband dead. In March 1994 Kurt authorized his attorney to present her the petition for divorce.
Courtney was to be finally removed from his heirs' list.
She had to fear that she won't get a penny from the fortune estimated at over 30 millions dollars.
- Just before the shot Kurt should be dead. In his blood they discovered heroin dose which exceeded all acceptable norms several times. It's rather doubtful that he could aim the shotgun at himself in that condition. So someone had to help him with that?
- Neither on the weapon, nor on the pen which he used to write his retirement note, the police couldn't identify his fingerprints.
- Kurt's suicidal note was partly forged! Vocalist has been announcing the quitting from the rock scene in it. This is a part of the letter: "I haven't felt the exitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. (...) The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100 % fun." The last words of letter were: "Please keep going Courtney, for Frances, for her life which will be so much happier without me." Those last lines were clearly written with another handwriting than the rest of the note. Handwriting research confirmed that it differs from Kurt's handwriting. Immediately the question arises: who added the conclusion of the letter?
- Courtney has been incriminated the most seriously by Eldon "El Duce" Hoke, ex-vocalist of Californian punk rock band The Mentors. He confessed in Broomfield's film:
"Several weeks before Kurt's death Courtney encouraged me to the murder. Then she said: "In the last days Kurt became incredible swine. I'll pay you 50 thousands dollars if you blow his fucking head off!"
The strangest thing is that only eight weeks after this significant statement Hoke perished from tragic death. His body was found on April 19, 1997 on the freeway in Riverside in California. He's been run over by the truck. Was his death a coincidence?
Courtney herself never took a position on accusations against her. Her career develops with no obstacles.
Mysterious death of Kurt Cobain will probably never be solved. However, the legendary vocalist of Nirvana will surely remain alive in memory of his fans forever... 1998
